Air Noise Coming From A Pillar On Bmw X1 35i On Driver Side

Are You Getting Any Air Noise Between The The Door Glass And Upper Door Frame Driver Side. I Have Had This Air Noise Since I Bought This X1. I Dont Think The Rubber Seal On The Door Edge Is Tight Enough. If I Go To Dealer I Wont To Know What Iam Talking About So They Wont Brush Me Off. Any Thoughts. Thanks

Same here, had that noise since I bought the X1.

Same exact noise with my other vehicle, a 2009 Frontier.

Must be the rubber seal, can't think of anything else. For me, it's not that loud that it bothers me, it's just noticeable.

I've had this issue since day 1 (August 2012). The first service advisor said that it's normal, implying that the E84 is a lesser vehicle that other BMW models and noise should be expected. They did not even consider repairing it. Earlier this year I took it to another dealer. The service advisor recognized the issue and special ordered a new window seal. A month later when I went back to have the new window seal installed, that service advisor was no longer employed at the dealership. The next service advisor told me that they could not hear the noise during the test drive and would not cover any repairs under warranty. They said they would happily charge me to install a new window seal, which I respectfully declined. I was going to replace it myself, but never got around to picking up the part.

An even louder crackling wind noise has developed in the last few weeks (near the top middle of the windshield or the sunroof). I've scheduled a service appointment for next week so we’ll see what happens. Kind of sad to get the run around from BMW for a $50 part…

Great car overall but honestly this whole wind noise issue (and subsequent run around from the dealers) has been the only real negative of owning the X1.

I investigated this issue today when driving on the freeway. I believe it is the roof rail and not the window seal. It could be due to roof rail design. I think the best way to check is to ask a passenger if they hear it on their side.

It doesn't bother me so I am not gonna mess with window seal. If anything it will make it worse.

I am also wondering if it could be coming from the mirrors? I know this is an issue on several Volvos.
