From the photos, sport seats will only be available with the MSport package.
In the U.S., the X1sDrive would be the cheapest RWD 4 door BMW.

Exactly, and 1900 for Xline that nets you 18s and dark copper trim seems like it must have more in it- and why even mention wood trim or leather that are extra anyway? My guess is it comes with Xline (not standard) similar to the SA pkg on X3. It would be great if they were standard but it would be super dick if they made you go 3k for M-sport which I feared at first- I hate the oversize squishy wheel that makes it a deal breaker for me.

I thought the exact same thing about the Xline. I think it includes the sport seats because 18" wheels are only $600 and the trim is $500 ( aluminum or wood) so where is the rest of the package.

Isn't it the aluminum/silver front bumper, side sills, rear bumper, roof rails and door sill scuff plate?

Probably those too which also aren't mentioned in the description...

Does anyone have an idea what that copper trim is on the xLine package?! Also, does it come with a second cup holder? I see a silver indent by gear selector on the passenger side. Think you push it and out comes a second cup holder?

Additional cupholder is stored in central console, below armrest. You can see how it looks once it is installed on attached picture.
In Europe additional cupholder is part of Storage package. |

The poster from the UK didn't see the point in it, obviously everyone explained why it's such a great option in the US, but it isn't here in the UK, there are better options.

I didn't realize you meant your reply to be only for him (or others in the UK I suppose) to digest and relate to, rather than a point to made for everyone who is reading the thread. It would be sort of like if there were a thread about moving heavy boulders and someone who lived on the moon chimed in with "Yeah, or just kick the f**kers out of the way". What sort of cubby-holes are there on the X1? I liked what I saw with the partitioned areas under the boot floor, anything else? I'd love to see something on the driver's side dash near the door.

As a small OT aside about misleading/misguided - Guernsey is not actually in the UK. It's a crown dependency, part of Great Britian but not part of the UK. It may sound the same, however it's not. We have our own laws, taxes etc that are not the same as the UK. For me, it meant no VAT (sales tax) when I purchased my X1 |

I agree, the traction control helps if you are driving at an appropriate speed for the conditions and just happen to get a little squirrely. More so than only being RWD, low ground clearance on sedans and coupes is a bigger detriment for driving in snow conditions. The X1 would afford that greater ground clearance but still provide a smaller vehicle than the other X models. That's why I've been looking forward to the arrival of the X1 stateside.

If you don't get iDrive you get a small key/coin holder where the controller would have been and where the screen would have been, you get another storage bin - and that's it. Rear wise, a couple of door bins. Adding the storage pack on European models adds extra power sockets, some netting, extra cup holder (though mine didn't have it for some reason) and a few other odds and sods. This is a lot less than I've had in previous cars, which has floor bins and various other things and much larger glove boxes. The boot partition is nice, though if you keep anything long term in your boot (I keep a golf push cart in mine) it can make it a bit awkward to get at without emptying the boot. |

Taking a hard look at the option packages and really not thrilled with the marketing gurus at BMWNA. I'm willing to pay more for a BMW than the other brands but I don't like being forced to spend on features that I deem unnecessary for my Ultimate Driving Machine. Hopefully, a xenon light bulb will go off @ corporate and give us what we want. Power to the people, right on!

Question for cyclists who own an X1 across the pond.
Is the X1 tall enough to put your road bike in standing up w/o the front wheel on with a fork holder. Thanks http://www.theweeklydriver.com/toyot...s/sony-dsc-47/ Last edited by BMWDAD; 04-12-2012 at 03:47 PM.. |
