Worst part of it, they are making you to wait to built your car to your standard....
BUt it's not exactly a fully personalized car, but more of a one of the kind packaged car..... |

It's the same in India - you can only choose packages, not individual extras. That and making the service plan optional are probably why they can offer the X1 at such good prices, apart from local assembly.
I'm surprised they're taking the same route in Canada though. |

It's finally here! My X1 arrived!
Ordered June 2 Delivered July 26 It looks really nice, but I must say that I'm *not* impressed with the transmission so far. I find that in regular D mode, when starting from a full stop, I have to press the gas pedal a considerable distance to get any response from the throttle at all, and then it lurches suddenly as it goes to 3000rpm. I Googled and found that this is a common complaint about BMW's automatic transmissions. I have all the symptoms reported here: http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=559462 http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=536103 http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455949 If I switch the DS mode, everything works as I would expect, so it has something to do with the programming of the gears/shiftpoints, etc. Interestingly, the first time I accelerate forward in D mode, after having reversed, it's fine. Does anybody else with an xDrive28i experience this? Cheers! Pictures to follow. |

Re the tranny, I haven't driven my wife's car that much, but haven't noticed it. However, complain to the dealer so it goes on the record. If enough people do, they'll come out with a software fix. In the meantime, enjoy.

Mine was pretty smooth, what car did you drove before?
I guess this is pretty common for an Bimmer.... On top of this, today's D drive would try to save you gas... And the turbo lag as well... |

Iwantanx - I haven't experienced this on my wife's X1, in fact, the transmission is excellent! There is a lot of smooth power in this engine and with the turbo, it comes online very early in the rev range. I've been really impressed. I have, however, experienced the problem you're talking about in my car - a 550i Grand Turismo (which also has the 8 speed automatic transmission). When I talked to the dealer about it, they re-downloaded the engine management software (which apparently takes something like 8-10 hours), but it did help a lot with the problem. Perhaps you could ask your dealer in Ottawa to consider doing this for you...

Do a search on tracking BMW. There's lots of posts on how to do it.

1) find out the build week from your dealer
2) once build has started, you can get the VIN from your dealer 3) then about 9 days after build started, keep checking the Wallenius site to see what ship you are on 4) the ship's schedule will tell you when it will arrive in Halifax 5) dealer can give you the rail car number for rail and CN can tell you where the railcar is 6) if in Toronto, Hansen's does the trucking from Concord and their site will tell you where th car is sigh
