if you park your car in a place whithout light or a street with trafic , you let the light on from the open outer side of the road , so drivers can see the light and the car and avoid the car, sometimes if anyone is abstract is some good warning!

Hi ya
To answer the fan question (aka the REST button function). I have iDrive/SatNav Pro installed on mine and its within the climate settings. You have two timers but tbh it's pretty useless. The REST facility used to pull warm air from the engine into the cabin. In the X1 it doesn't do this and just blows cold air in. If you have the optional temperature control unit (sorry can't remember the name or number) then it will blow warm air in. I believe they got rid of the REST function across the entire range from 2008. I recently had new 3 series and this too only had the ALL button. Well done BMW for removing a very usefull feature. Just like they removed the folding mirrors when you hold the lock button on the keyfob. Now you can only fold your mirrors in by pressing the button in the cabin. What half wits come up with these ideas!! |

I find it hardly necessary anyway... Certainly not in urban setting, and even in the country how often do you park in a dark country lane ? (Well, thinking again, I would rather not know... )

1. Some bits of interior finish. 2. Some aspects of refinement. 3. Indeed, little sense of raised driving position. So the next X1 will, like the X3, get a bit bigger and a bit more expensive as well. The current X1 I think will be the last 'affordable' X. Then again, in 5 years time, you will have more choice - an 'affordable' BMW SUV/MPV will be some new 1-series FWD variant. Yes, newcomers pricewise will most likely be driving a FWD BMW as opposed to today's 1-series hatch or even the X1. Last edited by manicm; 03-10-2011 at 10:05 AM.. |

I was wondering about that, eventhough i am an owner of X1. I see Yaris, Mercedes benz and many other cars to be taller than X1 and that makes me wondering why BMW didn't make this car taller like ex-X3.

The "X" label is certainly misleading, as this car should be in a category of its own.

Is there anyway to make it so the radio shows numbers when you increase or decrease the volume??
Is there any secret menu? I have the professional radio if it counts. |

I guess it doesn't show numbers, because the volume is adjusted with speed, so it's not clear what would have to be shown. Some kind of baseline volume or the current one? Had the same issue with my previous car, an opel astra.
