The Dinan tune is in and working. So Dinan can now tune the 35is with their stage 2 tune. Does it feel different , yes. But butt dynos are notorious for lying. I came home at one of the worst traffic times for congestion so there was really no chance for me to do any real testing of acceleration to feel pull. However I have the weekend and our weather is supposed to be clear. Guess I need to schedule another dyno

If you factor in the colder temp and standard % error of any dyno run it's not too bad. I've left the CAI on because you get more turbo whoosh and it looks cooler

Although I'll need to put the stock air box back on for the dyno run to test the Dinan tune since that was the air intake on the car for the reference runs.

DINAN I got an "answer" about the exhaust, Dan said that he will need my car more to look at it...I told him to concentrate on the Stage 1 and 2 performance software first and that the "boss" will need his car on friday. I mentioned also that people on the forum wanted to hear about the DINAN exhaust for the X1 35i.
I ordered the cable for the Alpina B3 flash at info@one-stop-electronics.com and started to read all bout it. I sent a PM to Alex@Alpine but did not get any answer yet.
Will update back on friday after getting the car back from DINAN. Thanks.
Got the car back from DINAN at noon PST. Level 2 installed.
Peak HP 355 horsepower at 5300 rpm
Peak Torque 401 lb-ft torque at 3500 rpm
I start to like my wife's car now playing with the paddles shift, starting at 3500 tr/mn it is pushing as expected. DINAN was busy this week with other stuff but I think we will get more mods coming, I told them to call me when they need the car, I told them that I am interested in stage 3... One thing I should say, the speed limit of 149Mph set by BMW on the X1 35i Sport M on my car has not been removed by the flash. I do not have any issue with that but you should know.
Regarding the exhaust they will get back to me after comparing the DINAN and BMW drawings.
The only thing missing for me is the "ALPINA B3 TCU" flash. I am used to the DCT from my 9114s...

Congrats on getting yours in and let's hope they have positive results when they compare the exhausts.

In regards to the Alpina flash, Alpine said it was not compatible... But he is incorrect.. Talk to cn555ic on the forums, he will be able to help you out.
Message the above and he will help you with the alpina flash.

An important reason why to know is because most of the stock OEM rubber for these cars is V rated. That's basically to the speed limiter of the stock M Sport. The stock tires are not rated above that speed and no one wants a tire failure at 150+

One of the reasons I'm looking at new non-run flat rubber, but more for a tire with better dry grip than these A/S RFs

Oh and all you stock M Sport owners, see you at 160

How does the Dinan flash compare to the BMS piggyback?

Well keep in mind it's the butt dyno talking, but there's more pull certainly in 3rd and 4th since our 1st and 2nd are kinda small. I need to get out on an open hwy and do an acceleration comparison where I went from about 82 to 122, have it on video so can compare times. I think the car feels right now, should be the stock config, at least buyable in Sport/M Sport versions. I doubt Dinan is stressing the hardware much at all. They like keeping it safe but fun, and of course although expensive, it's insurance in case something does need replacing during the first 4 years.

Dyno is next Sat. morning to see its effects

Keep in mind he didn't have the JB4; theoretically the JB4 should make more power - but of course, we haven't seen dyno sheets of either yet on the X1.

Did not have the JB4, it was the JB1.

Unless I put a JB4 on the car and dyno it, we don't know what real differences there would be between it and a Dinan tune on a stock car because the two have not been compared on the same vehicle. Now in theory almost any aftermarket tuner is going to make more power and torque than Dinan because Dinan tries to keep things boosted, but at safe levels so parts don't break. After all they in theory have to cover that if BMW doesn't.

So if an owner is looking for the maximum power available on the platform the Dinan tune is not the way to go. If you're looking for extra pwr/tq that should operate within safe levels and has warranty coverage if it does break then Dinan is a path to consider.

Put the stock airbox on last night so no more extra turbo whoosh this week while the ECM has a few days to adjust to the different air flow for Sat dyno.

I probably should be more correct in my description, as it's listed as N55 Stage 1 vs a JB number.

Yeah - it's challenging, but it can be done. There's a small screwdriver somewhere in my bumper to prove it. Long, skinny forearms help, but patience is key. My dealership estimated $95 in labor to do it for me.

Any new news yet on the Dinan and BMW tune power numbers, both butt dyno and real dyno? The suspense is killing me...
