actually the max torques are:
sDrive18d - 320/1750-2500 xDrive18d - 320/1750-2500 sDrive20d - 350/1750-3000 xDrive20d - 350/1750-3000 xDrive23d - 400/2000-2250 not a huge difference between 18d and 20d... edited to add... Of course in the UK the 18 version is diesel not petrol like in Oz.... |

In my opinion the best buy here is the SDrive 2.0d. I just need the 4x4 bit occasionally so I have opted for the XDrive 2.0d. PS: By "here" I mean in the UK. Last edited by mario486; 06-30-2010 at 09:43 AM.. Reason: update |

Yep thats why I went with the sDrive2.0d. For me, it was the best value for money, considering fuel efficiency. I'm only planning to use my X1 as an everyday car, and have never been or needed or plan to go offroading, so that's why I didnt go for the xDrive option. I'm not big on the best performing car, so don't need the more powerful engines
In Aus too, the fuel effienciency difference between sDrive18i and s/xDrive20d allows deduction of the luxury car tax and potentially 30% saving on accessories too, so I think the s/xDrive20d are the best value for money, if that's what you are after. |

BMW advised me that sales of the colour Tasman Green have been rather unpopular so the chance of being able to fill an order for a 2011 make will be slim to none as the colour is most likely to be deleted from the palette (sad face). Have to fall in love with another colour now. Quote from BMW salesman "Why would you choose metallic green? They have the worst resale value." Ahh because I love the colour...

The 18i is available in Australia now. I test drove the 18i against the 20d and the difference was huge. The 18i is not as swift as I was hoping - burgeoning on a somewhat lethargic performance, the engine is too asthmatic for my preference. On the otherhand the 20d was fantastic. This was the first diesel I have driven and it was by far a better drive than the small petrol. We crunched the numbers and the difference in price is minimal so I'm opting for the sdrive20d. Waiting to see what this metallic white looks like in the metal since the Tasman is being deleted. If its anything like the Lexus metallic white then I think it'll be the winner for me. Ordering in Feb 2011 now, not March (yay for me!)

There is a Mineral White on the BMW 7-series Individual broschure. Still looking for a picture of an actual car with this paint option. Looks to be slightly silvery but difficult to say.
