First Question- model year

I have just acquired an X1 xDrive28i, black with tan interior, of course. Plaque inside driver’s door says manufactured 04/2014, but all documents say this is a 2015. For example, NHTSA’s VIN decoder says 2015. So, I downloaded the 2015 X1 owner’s manual and immediately found a couple of things not like my car. The 2014 manual is more accurate. Have I got a 2014 or a 2015? Some interim model? When buying parts, I assume getting this right will be important.

Plug your VIN number into the realoem.com website.

It will give you all you need to know about your vehicle build info... build dates can be different than model year

BlackAndTan, is this a 2015 year model X1 you are speaking of? Or are you seeing discrepancies in build date?

I think it's pretty normal for build date to not match year model. For example, my X1 is a 2013 year model, but was assembled in 2012. But to second what cwickberg said, RealOEM is your best friend for stuff like this.
