Excessive tyre wear
Front suspension on my 8 year old E84 failed and was replaced together with (allegedly) new tyres 5 months ago. Having covered 3K miles since, a check on tread shows about 5mm across both front tyres, matching tread on rear tyres which were replaced over 2 years ago. Surely this can’t be right?

Not at 3k miles unless you drive a heavy FWD vehicle and you have a propensity for jackrabbit accelerations.
I'd have it checked out. Is the wear on tread depth or inner/outer sections of the tire? The latter could mean bad alignment. |

I've been having issues like this myself, except mine is wearing on the inside edge. i bought a mini spare from a local guy who sold his X1 and one of the big reasons he got rid of it was because of excessive tire wear.
I'm thinking the factory alignment specs are incorrect. There is supposed to be a weight placed into the passenger cabin during the alignment and I wonder if that throws off the alignment when its just the driver in the car? |
