New X1 owner!
Just picked up my 2013 X1 x28i! Seems like a great car so far!
If anyone has any tips or helpful mods to do I’d love to know! Thanks! |

Just get a tune. N20 looks to be underrated by BMW on paper and response will to mods. Check out f22/f30 forums for possibilities. Getting power is easy....an advanced tranny with 2 more gears is nigh on impossible.

Also, mine came without HID lights, any good recommendations to improve the halogen headlights? Do LED lights work well? |

Since I had my headlights replaced (under warranty), I re-adjusted them. They were oddly pointed way too low, and visibility was poor. It's hard to aim them by yourself, but I think I did a good job of ensuring that the beam is below oncoming traffic. I've gotten no flashes. I think the key to lights is to make sure the bright part of the beam, below the cutoff, is below oncoming traffic (so you don't blind them), and use a good bulb. And next time buy the car with HID already built-in. ;-) Seriously, I would have done so, but I bought used and had to take what I could find; having more options also would have cost a lot more. I'll be buying those Philips bulbs at some point. It's hard to show in photos, but here's the difference when I did it to my VW: |

Re: Oil. Mega amount of threads dedicated to engine oil. LL01 is the preferred standard. I think there's an FE variant for "Fuel Economy". If you follow a reduced OCI (as opposed to BMW's) then basically any high quality synthetic would work. Filter, I stick with BMW, MANN or MAHLE. Re: Tuning. Lots. Again go visit the F22/F30 forums for a richer set of experience/opinions. Tip: While it might seem like a lot of work, I find it very educational reading back-dated threads on this forum. It gives me an appreciation of owner experiences throughout the years. |

so, I've been scouring through old threads on the F30 forums looking for a respectable halogen low beam replacements and it seems there aren't many options. Some say they replaced with LEDs and the light output is equal to halogen, but others say LEDs put out less. Then, some of the replacement halogens I looked up seem to have poor lifespans and/or put out less light than OE halogens.
I did stumble across a thread where someone recommended these. https://store.candlepower.com/osraulhiouh7.html a 55W halogen. |

Hey guys I’m looking to change my oil soon and I’ve seen that it’s holds 7qt but other say that when they changed it they only had to add 5-5.5qts. Why is there a discrepancy like that?
