H&R Springs
I'm looking to lower my X1 and I've seen people have great success with these springs.
I have a 2012 BMW X1 28i but the tuner motorsport says they are 2013+ Shouldn't they still fit? |

Yup. You really, really want to upgrade struts/shocks while you're at it. Stock units can't quite keep up.

If you live on very smooth roads and/or you drive relatively slowly/don't notice the fact that the dampening is clearly not match for the spring rate...stock struts/shocks with these may be OK for you long term. Just giving you a warning. Not an acceptable setup for many people. Even wifey found it horrid.

Maybe an hour for the rear...nothing other than a jack and hand tools required.
Fronts, depends on your experience. You'll need a set of spring compressors to get the assemblies out and the top hats swapped. Helps a ton to have an impact gun...but a towel, vice grips and hand tools can work in a pinch. First time? Plan on all day and probably a 1/2 case of beer. But a doable project. But seriously, save for a set of Bilstein HDs and do it all at once. Well, well worth it. If you plan on keeping the car, the stock dampeners aren't going to last anyway. Might as well replace them at the same time with suitable hardware.

If I just went for the springs, do I reuse everything and just swap the springs? |

I'm just kidding around.
Just not my thing. 20" wheels on a 4 cylinder X1? In Canada? 9" up front and 10" in the rear? What are you doing with that much tire on a little X1? And you're spending money on ridiculous sized wheels, and not bothering to install suitable struts/shocks to go with your lowering springs? Presumably that's because of the added cost? Anyway, to each their own...but I can't get my head around priorities/desires like that. Then again, I'm getting pretty old. I'm sure it will look good. Ride on the other hand...yikes.

I could always upgrade the struts/shocks in the future correct? I just place an order on my springs |

Seriously, listen to the advice given, do the Bilstein shocks at the same time. You will regret it and end up doing it anyway, causing either twice the work or twice the cost, depending if you do it yourself or pay someone to do it....

There is some clutter in the thread, but overall you can see where PrematureApex, myself, and others compared notes to finally come to a great solution for the X1. As Apex mentioned above, doing just the springs will cause the car to be underdamped, making it bouncy and allowing it to easily bottom out over bumps at highway speed, so much so I was worried about my head hitting the sunroof. When I did the H&R springs first on my car the Bilsteins were not available yet. The first two weeks everything seemed fine, then things started getting worse and worse as things settled in. It was so bad that if the Bilsteins hadn't fixed the problem I was going to probably trade the car in as it was not right. Putting on the Bilstein B6 shocks with shortened bumpstops in the front and rear (as described in the linked thread) gave my car the handling & ride that BMW should feel like: firm, crisp, not too hard in the ride. Additionally with the lowering characteristics of the H&R springs it brought the ride height to normal levels shedding that crossover look.
