X1 plug-in hybrid arriving 2016
Now this actually interests me. When I eventually get out of my current X1, I might be looking for something electric/hybrid. And so far this is more appealing than any other EV on the market. |

In Finland I can´t even imagine how expensive M2 will be, because M235 iA costs appx. 68000 € = 73000 USD / 99000 AUD with standard factory equipment. So you can figure how expensive M2 is going to be. We have also quite expensive gasoline 1,50 € / litre = 1,65 USD / 2,22 AUD per litre so it´s best to drive diesel if you drive over 20 000 km/year. |

From what I know of the USofA model, it will be the X1 128i which comes with the four-cylinder making 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. Other markets will have: 231-horsepower x125i and the 192-horsepower X120i with 2 wheel and all-wheel drive with a 192-horspower 4 cylinder engine.
This is compared to my current 2015 6 cylinder with 300-horsepower and runs like a sewing machine on steroids. So, here in the USofA, I'm sticking with my six

The 2017 X3 will probably be my next one. I'll be ready for something new by then.

As of now, I'm keeping mine. Then again, my days of trading in cars just to upgrade better be largely behind me. I say "as of now" because I'll be keeping it barring any maintenance issues that push me away.
While not a fan of turbos, the turbo inline-6 is awesome in this form factor. The only thing missing is a manual transmission. I like it better than the GLA and Macan offerings. Don't know much about the Q3 but I don't think it'd have anything that would sway me away.

glad I bought when I did
just spec'd out 2016 X1 and made note of some changes over my 2015:
Cons No option for MSport- this removes the sport steering wheel, black rails and black accents, coral red interior, sport wheels wider longer, and heavier worse MPG slower front wheel biased no 35i option less HP output (228 vs 240) less configurable(cold weather package has less, and cannot add just the heated seats Pros I like the dual exhaust layout better sliding rear seats power tailgate head up display in summary, would like some the new features like power tailgate and head up display, but would not want to sacrifice fuel efficiency and drivability for those features. I am glad I bought a 2015 instead of waiting for the 2016 redesign. |

There's been a confirmation that an MSport model is in the works, 300+ HP 4 cylinder.

No idea. I know we've actually seen pics of the MSport package, I guess that' would be separate from a version with a more performance-focused engine.

You do actually get a heated steering wheel with cold weather package but you don't get the heated washer nozzles anymore.

Congratulations on having a 25d. I pay AUD 1.40 a Litre for Diesel Premium Fuel here. A Diesel better suits me living in a Country Area. It's an annoying that BMW continually starve Countries of the full range and this will continue. Aust. hasn't confirmed the 25d yet. |

Yup, doesn't fit. They'll likely be a 300+ HP I4 though.

Again, an I6 doesn't fit in the new chassis. Let alone the fact that the N55 X1 wasn't exactly a hot seller.

Never could get a heated steering wheel with the M-Sport package. Thank goodness for driving gloves. (Although I doubt driving gloves or stiffened suspension is much used by the demographics they want to sell the new X1 to...)
