You may want to consider the BMW Portable Pro or Plus system. Here is a link to one of the options:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...oup=Navigation The basic idea is you buy a customized version of a Garmin GPS that has BMW vehicles and splash screen and a mount. The dealer can install it and it is tied to your sound system. You get a really good GPS which can have current maps for less than $100 (lifetime). But it is not as integrated as other options. I did something like this with my own mount. I like it but you may prefer something different. The way I did it was less than $100 + the GPS. I currently use a nuvi 885t with lifetime maps. It is voice controlled and gives me bluetooth phone and MP3 playback in addition to GPS. Jim

My advise is to buy a Nexus7. If your X1 usb reads MTP you can even control music from your wheel; you can hide the USB behind the dash it's something my dealer did for $150 + $200 of Nexus7 + $40 station http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=838703 you have an Android tablet you can take / Navigation System / Internet Radio and more.

I have the iDrive, and to be honest I'd almost prefer inthemovie's setup... the Garmin is SO much better than the BMW navigation.
But the iDrive comes in handy for parking, with the backup camera & sensor displays, & also for going through my music collection, so that's why I got it. Still miss my Garmin, though. |

Do you have the part number for the license plate with sensors? Any installation instructions for it? I really want/need a backup camera, but the sensors could make installation much simpler.
