Hi ya
Just had a progress report from the dealership. The X1 was squeaking everytime for them which is good (kind of!). They replaced the fanbelt, etc but still didn't cure it. They put a new alternator on and it stopped squeaking and hasn't done it since. They are going to continue to test throughout the day but fingers crossed that's what's cured it. |

Hi ya
Just spoken to the dealership and they inform me that since replacing the alternator there has been no squeak heard since. They are dropping the car back to me tomorrow morning so fingers crossed that's the nightmare over. |

Hi ya
Well my car was returned this morning. I started it up several times and no squeak. I am slightly relieved but will see how it goes over the next couple of day but so far so good. Has there been any news with yours? |

Pick up the car yesterday. It seems that the noise was coming from the poly. There's an internal BMW service notice for fixing that, but they are not calling any cars, only if you reclaim. They so change the poly and belts and's it's working very nice!!!

Excellant, I had loads of pulley and belts fitted to mine and they all started playing up again within a week. Have used my car much over the past week but I'm going to give it a good blast this weekend and see if the noise remains gone. I'm glad yours is now fixed though.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I have had diesels pick up but a year ago i bought a x1 sdrive 18i . Very nice car instead of consume ( 7,5 l / km petrol). The engine sound like a diesel engine. In 30 days i will go to dealer in order to do the service 20000 km. My wish have been the dealer open their mind about this ' sounds'.

Well 4 months later and the same issue has raised its head again. I think its only lasted this long due to the car not being used much. Not impressed at all.

Well a modified fanbelt and tension pulley was fitted and upon the car being returned it squeaked again So now the X1 is back with the dealership, BMW provided a very nice 330d hire car for 5 days and now I've just been told there is an X1 waiting for us to use for the next month whilst my car is looked at.

I cant believe Im writting this. BMW sent out a 2.0d automatic X1 to use whilst my X1 is at the dealership being investigated. The X1 they sent me only has 1000 miles on the clock and this one has the exact same squeak!

Well since they replaced the fanbelt and tension pulley with a modified one (It was a modified part as I'm told it had different part numbers) the squeak has gone completely.

I had none of this before pump ,pullies, belts where replaced. Im in for a service tomorow and ive told the mechanic to try and resolve it as they are the same guys who done the repair. Apart from that the car has no issues and dosent seem to be affecting the performance of the car. All fingers point to either belts or pullies. |
