BMS N55 Performance Intake (Warning)
Hey guys
I just had to fork out $109.00 for BMW service due to my engine light has come on.BMW service has informed me its due to the BMS N55 Performance intake that I have installed. I was under the impression that this would not trip any warming lights and that it was a fully compatible modification. This issue has cost me $109.00 for the service to reset the light on the car and was instructed that it will come back on due to the cold intake was running rich? I have put in a e/m question on this matter to burger tuning and awaiting on a reply. I never had a issue till I took my long trip this past week. Has anyone had this problem? ![]() Also while in service I found that the x1 has an MAP update /recall you may want to check into this as well.....

response from burg
I would have told you the first thing to do is to read the code yourself so you know what the problem is before going in. You can do that with our CAN Tool or a JB4. If you don't have a code reader and don't want one then always remove any mods before going in.
In terms of the actual problem if you have the specific code I can give you better advice on it. so FYI guys although they say it will not trigger any warning it will . In my case it did and now i should buy a CAN tool? i guess live and learn! ![]()

This is part of the chance you take with modding your car, especially a BMW. BMW has many ways to monitor changes made to your car. As others have stated, BMS and other companies have made tools to delete these codes so BMW service never finds them, but unfortunately it looks like they already found them in your case. Sorry you learned the hard way. ![]() |

I don't believe the BMS stage 2 tune with code deletion is available on the X1 yet (if ever).

According to BMS, the CAN tool ($129) only supports deleting of codes on the X1 (non of the other features are supported). The BT scanner ($287) can both read and delete codes on the X1.
