Valet parking anxiety!

Ok I don't know if Im the only one that has this but I have Major Valet parking anxiety! I have to Valet park my car at least twice a week at major hotels as to the work I do. ( No Im not a escort! ) This Weekend wore my last nerve but I did sorta enjoy it at the same time. I pull up to a ritz carlton and all the Valet boys circled my car looking it over from top to bottom. "What kind of BMW is that?" "Ive never seen one of these before WOW " then they started fusing about who was going to get to park it.... I almost did it myself but was running 5min late.

Now all night long I had pictures of the scene in Farris Bueller's day off !

Is this normal or do I need to get over it ?

I dont valet my car. They steal and screw it up. I went to a hotel for dinner in my old X5 and they backed it into a post and dented the trunk lid badly. I didnt notice it until the next day and they refused to cover it. Another time I was standing on the curb and the valet pulls a Maserati convertible up to the curb and totally rashes the wheel. Acted like it was no big deal and said he would tell the owner, yeah right. My wife hates it but I self park.

My car is modified with hand controls to drive with, and the amount of valets that say they can drive it no problem makes me laugh. I refuse to let anyone valet any of my cars, and I have never had a problem. Just ask where they want you to park, that usually works.

I once had a car with an extra gas pedal on the left, and a regular stick shift but auto-clutch instead of a clutch pedal. (It had belonged to someone who couldn't use his right leg but didn't want a fully automatic.)
Much fun was to be had handing it over to valets, car washes or even car mechanics.
"Don't try to use the clutch; it doesn't have one" was usually ignored, because I could hear high rev and swearing every time, and sometimes even a kangaroo jump, before it crawled off at 1 mph by a now very cautious driver.

Then there's the car where the gas pedal broke off, and for a while I drove it with a double length of twine. I said giddyap a lot when driving it. I never handed that over to anyone, though.

I think I would also self park my car whenever possible. Does parking lot anxiety also apply here? If so ... I have that. I just dread getting dinged and scratched but maybe after the first one it wont be so bad. I find myself parking well away from the store entrances because that is where everyone wants to park. I also think the extra exercise does not hurt either.

Bimmerboi, I totally get where you're coming from. When I had my e93, I did not like valeting it. I would much rather park it myself. I valeted it twice, and I didn't feel comfortable not knowing if I trusted the valet with my car.

You could note the odometer before you get out next time!

It is awesome though, how excited the valets got about your ride!

Yeah, I am with you beamerboi, no valet for me neither.
I went to a Jaguar gala, a valet took my Jag to park it and when I get it back it got a huge black mark from his shoes on my beige-white door panel and some marks on my light beige carpet. Took me one day to clean that s#*t.

Since then, no valet parking for me.

I come from a place where we really only ever see valet parking in movies. So whats the mood when you pull up? Does the guy eagerly run up trying to grab your keys, or is it okay, for you to refuse, and just say I'll park it myself?
Is the valet guy pissed if you refuse his service?

My buddy this last summer(on a road trip) went to a hotel with Valet parking. His phone was stolen out of the car, but only noticed hours after leaving the hotel. He still doesn't know if the valet guy stole it, or if the car was left unlocked. It was a honda CRV.
Luckily, his 335i was tucked away safely in his garage.

Pulled into work today and the valet was confused...he couldn't find the key and then, when I explained the auto stop function, he politely offered to let me park it myself!
