X1 similiarities to the 3 series?

Do you guys know if the X1 X28i sold in Canada shares the same suspension with the 3 series as well?

The E84 X1 is based on the last generation E91 3er wagon chassis, there are no commonalities to the new F30 3er sedan. I haven't looked to see how much suspension similarity there is between the E91/E84, but aside from shocks and springs, I think it's pretty similar.

I would guess that depends on whether you get one made in China, India or Germany, and whether you pay extra for better seats or not.

Bill is the amazing parts compare guru, maybe if he sees this he can do a comparison of the suspension parts... I think he posted somewhere what he's doing to compare but I couldn't find a thread where he mentioned his trick.

X1 only started production in China March of this year, which is the reason why now Germany can catch up production to release the car in USA.

My X1 in China was imported from Germany, and the interior material is still SHIT. X1's interior material (not design), is definitely not up to par with the 3 series.

Springs are the same for the E9x series. Shocks are their own. Front sways are from a Z4 and the rears are from a 1 series.

It's like the M coupe without any M parts. Engine and tranny are from the new F series, suspension is from last years 3. Interior is a mix of new E84 parts and old 1 series seats.

Is the quality über high? Well on the outside, yes. On the inside a little dumbed down. Down below its one of BMWs best designed 3 suspension and top rated motors.

I just use realoem.com. It has a handy parts cross-reference feature once you have a part number.

X1 is a mash-up. For example, the front stabilizer bar for the non-sport X1 is the same one used on the E90/E92, BUT the one for the sport X1 is the one from the E91. The front struts/rear shocks/rear stabilizers are unique.

Could be because the Sport/M-Sport give a choice of 19" wheels at purchase time? I'd imagine that reducing the sway is more important with the larger wheels.

The E91 and X1 seem very similar, not only in appearance. But there are, of course, differences - the cars likely sell to a different demographic, and are used differently, and the design will reflect that. I see why BMW offer both.

Again, the 2013 X1's have upgraded materials along with a whole host of other mid cycle changes. If you have an older one you are correct and if you don't live in the US you may be correct. One of the problems with these threads are different specs for different countries like one thread right now about seat wear on a seat you can't even get in the US.

You can use e9x springs but shocks and struts are different... If your looking to lower your X1, e9x rear shocks will fit but if you were looking to do coilovers from an e9x you'd have to have sleeves made for the front struts because the X1 spindles are larger than e9x

Thanks for all your discussions guys. Well you can see, I'm from Vancouver Canada, and the X1 is made in Germany. Probably one of a kind BMW x1 here in Vancouver. My Mom bought a stripped demo X1, it was the price that she wanted it at the time, all she said she needed is the good BMW turbo 4 engine, the good 8 speed auto and the Xdrive system. Well she got that, but it has no premium package, no nothing, no panoramic sunroof, just leatherette seats and one option, power front seats with memory :P now I think about it, I think it's a smart choice, that's all I need it if I were to buy one one day.

I believe folks have had success getting E82 1er exhaust to fit, but I'd wait for someone to confirm that.

Isn't the car base from the 3-series Touring? I was looking at the Eisenmann website for something...
