Side step / running board

Anyone here mounted it on X1? Have two small kids and have a roof box and bike rack.

I've seen a couple on eBay, but no pics with X1.

Whyyyyyy?
The car isn't any higher than a normal hatchback/estate/sedan, so why those ugly douchy things?

I think he answered that in his second sentence.

Anyhow, yes it is higher from the ground than your average car of the types mentioned - not a lot, but a 7-7.6" ground clearance (depending on model) is on the plus side.

Personally, I won't miss a side baseboard, because I can stand in the door frame. They do sell replacement door frame base covers, after all.
What would have been useful would be a rear half-step in the bumper, like many crossovers have, because reaching onto the roof from the back can be hard unless you're tall.

Good point regarding door step replacement, Grovsnus. Have to use it now to load the box. (Btw, you must be a scandinavian with that nick)

It doesn't help my kids though ...

I think it looks good on X3 and X5, but the one I linked to looks awful indeed. Do BMW offer this oem for X1?

Garage List
Just step o the door sill with opened doors - problem solved.
The X1s design is really not suitet for running boards.
