Tracking System Accuracy

My M-Sport has said "End of Production" for almost 2 weeks now on MyBMW and the phone system still says "No confirmed production date." So I called BMW NA to ask what the story was. Apparently those systems are only updated until the car gets to the port of exit, and aren't updated unless your dealer goes into the system and updates it manually.

No idea if this is common knowledge, this is my first time ordering a car. But I figured I would share it, since it helped explain why I thought mine was so far behind.

The automated tracking systems are pretty useless, u need to call the BMW 800 number and speak to a rep to get updated info. Same thing happened when I ordered my x5, which is produced in the US no less.

Once it hits the port in Europe they just have estimates. It took mine about 5 weeks to arrive after it was supposed to be at port.

My experience has been that both the My BMW and the 800 number are a little slow, but not that bad. I was told by my CA when my car was out of production, and within two days the MyBMW page and the 800 number had that info. I could guess which cargo ship it would load on, and which date. The cargo lines tracking info was updated first to confirm my hunch, the Monday after the Saturday (or Sunday?) departure from Bremerhaven. It took 2-3 days for the 800 number and then the MyBMW site to reflect the shipping and change to "en route." My CA hasn't been in touch with me for a couple weeks (I'm not complaining) so if he is doing the updating, I'd be surprised.

I'm not interested in the tracking of the cargo ship at this point. When it gets to be a day or two away from ETA, I'll check the cargo site to make sure it is on schedule. Once it arrives, I think only the dealership would be able to inform me how long it will be before they get it.

Our X1 is on the Florida Highway with an ETA at Brunswick of Oct.31 with a prior stop at Baltimore. Looking at the weather forecasts of the "Frankenstorm" being predicted in the coming week I am guessing any ships imminently due into the east coast may stay at sea to ride out the storm.

How do u track the location of the vehicle from production facility to the ports, and the physical location of the ship until it makes the cross-atlantic journey? I know there's a site but can't recall it.
