Thumbs down The worst cars; the worst service

At age 66, I've loved these cars/Hated these cars. Long history with this company. Been through the 750's stranded on freeways with EML problems, non fixable; a 5 that occasionally would not start in the rain; the 5 series steering problem.......pulling to the right. Many many more. Lately, everything's "a software issue." I even bought the newer X3, only to find out it had sections reprinted at the factory. Lawyer time on this: I won. Plus $11,000 towards a new BMW or Mini.

Yes, they're great drivers. And artery cloggers. Anything, anything but a BM Trouble-U.

Sorry to be so negative........all of you.....just be careful. They're one smug company to deal with. They're always right......the customer is wrong....or the car is in need of a software issue. Buyer beware..

Huh, why are you posting on the X1 board?

And, "sections reprinted at the factory"? What does that even mean?

2011 BMW X1 23d  [3.50]
First post on BMW forums....me thinks a troll is amongst us.

OP: I suppose the Stuttgart taxi you drive now is a pillar of quality/reliability and driving pleasure?

Correct: spell check changed "repainted" to "reprinted"

I have been reading this board for a bit now.....considering the X1 as a strong possibility. I liked the notion that the company had almost three years to get it right prior to release in the USA. Seeing the various posts in reference to early problems.....phantom rattles; unintended acceleration, I am reminded of why I issued an edict to myself to never buy one of these again. I must admit I can be seduced. They are the best drivers. The early X3's, both 2.8 and 3.5 had sudden acceleration. BMW blamed it on loose misfitting floor mats. I wish that were so. Almost crashed through a gate when the X3 revved up to 4,000 rpm.....while my foot was on the brake.

I will not come back to this board as I seem to present too much discord for the enthusiasts. Just be careful, please. BMW corporate in New Jersey can be brutal to deal with. Good luck to all.

Well just give an opposing view look at what I've owned below (14 BMW's and I'm 59). Can honestly say I have never had a serious issue with any that I've owned. I've had a minor stall problem with a 5 series, some interior quality issues when the X5 first came out but never had any transmission or engine problems in the past 17 years.

I have to agree with him. Im sure every one has a story and

I started out in the BMW family with a Mini cooperS (no issues whatsoever) and then worked up to the 135i (I loved)that car the fuel pump went out almost had to have it towed to the shop (recall on fuel pump) I ordered an X6 no issues BUT poor quality control in south Carolina plant as the drivers side door had a Dried paint bubble /build up and a windshield glass pimple (?) Now moved to X1 and less than 200 miles and the motor making a rattling sound thats not right (as per the service dep)and is in the shop.... So thats not a good thing
another thing is how when I ordered the M version that states M wheel with paddle shifters on invoice and the car arrives without them.. Thats another issue..

I will say too that the guys I deal with here in Ft lauderdale are very helpful and nice and go out of the way to make things right.

All automobile makes have their share of issues; I had a Mitsubishi that I had to pursue lemon law litigation.

On my 5th BMW, and have had my share of small issues. However, going into my first BMW purchase, I knew I wasn't buying for quality and reliability, but for driving fun.

I had way more problems with my C230 MB than my 128 I can tell you that. Service, yeah its pretty bad, won't argue that point.

True, i has to replace $5 copper starter contacts on my Toyota 4runner when it hit 125,000 miles. And my cruise control stopped working at 120,000. I'm thinking of lemoning it.

At least you were spared from the sudden unintended acceleration issue.
