Brake upgrade
Time to spend some $$ on M3 brakes.
Got the front calipers and mounting brackets for $300, rears for about the same. Sound like a good deal? I'm going to go to a shop and buy a caliper servicing kit for new pistons and seals. Dealer wants about $200 for all four. New pads, probably get these from Hawk or EBC. Rotors: might call Brembo or who ever as the dealer wants $500ish each. I'm hoping the stock lines will work and will buy the shields new if the wreckers don't send me them. Will have to paint the rears because they're black, fronts are red

Interesting. I did the 530/540 upgrade in my last E39 525...I felt it helped a bunch, imagine going with M parts certainly won't hurt here...

Well, picked up the front calipers and fuck me they're heavy. Also not red as advertised. Mount looks similar, but I'm sure it's not at all similar to the X1

They gave me the caliper mount with the caliper. I'm hoping it will swap over to the front hub carrier.

Are you upgrading just for the looks or for performance?
The stock brakes on my 20i can handle the Nurburgring without too much problems, so unless you're really doing track days I don't see any benefits except for better looks |
