Fixed Hesitation!

My 14 s28i M Sport was getting bad about hesitating when taking off before shifting into second gear.

I thought I found solution by starting in Second Gear, but that was what one does when in slick conditions.

The real reason was that my Pirelli P7 run flat summer performance tires were 5 1/2 years old and 25k miles.

I put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s in 225/40r18 and 255/35r18, and it drives like a dream now.

I'm guessing everytime I took off the rears would slip, and kick in fuel cut on traction control. Not anymore.

Notice old tires were 26 inch diameter and new ones are 25 inch diameter.

Funny thing is that my scangauge speedometer had to be set 4% higher to run the factory tires, and scanguage is at zero or no correction for the new lower profile Michelins.

I guess that reflects the fake 5% higher speedo needle. Now the true odometer will be in my scan guage not the dash.I watch scanguage not dash for info. Dash is secondary.

So, update on Tire n Wheel Rental Adventure.

Discount Tire looked in chart and it said they couldn't put my 92Y and 94Y Michelins on, since 92Y was rated lower than 91V. BS, 92Y is 1386# load bearing or 33# more.

BMW dealer said $300, so I went to Ghetto town Tire N Wheel Rental where $3k worth of tires and wheels becomes $6k in a year. They charged $104 and didn't scratch up wheels, BUT THEY HAMMERED LUGS TIGHT when they said over and over they use a torque wrench!

I watched them hammer on and then confirm with toque wrench 88#'s!

So, I knew what they did, and when I went back today, the service manager claimed over and over they knew what doing. Manager could barely break lug loose moving car, and still said they didn't make a mistake.

What numbnuts! Car should never move tightening or loosening at 88#!

A 10 year old bicycle mechanic could understand that torque wrench would jump off at 88# when lugs tightened to 150#. IT'S A FALSE POSITIVE READING!

That's why I just bring the wheel set to them for mounting. Those gorillas working there don't give squat about following wheel specs. Imagine them having to change the settings on the pneumatic wrench for every car?

Oh, they knew to set wrench to 88# and did.

One new guy ran up gun, and second guy their best one CONFIRMED, by clicking off torque wrench.

I don't think they hurt lugs, but it's annoying that monkeys are that stupid.

I wouldn't have that trouble at Discount Tire, but they can't reason out load ratings.

If they have a fascist rule at least get it right.

My new Michelin PS4s have greater load carrying than the 225/40r19's that one can get on car.

I intended to plus size my 225/45r18 and 255/40r18 when I bought car.

The take off torque now is so good that front lifts a little.

I've driven some 60's muscle cars not that good.

It'll take a lot to set off traction control.
