X1 Fitted Sun Shades Available At A Good Price
Just a little bit of news for anyone interested, I've been badgering a company in the UK about fitted sun shades for the X1. They have finally put then on their list as available for the X1 (I've been pestering them since March).
The company is Van Style UK, price for a set of 6 is £95.99 (a lot cheaper than BMW in France or the UK) and they ship internationally. I haven't ordered yet as I'm just about to go away but will do very soon. I've added a link so anyone can take a look and see what you think http://www.vanstyle.co.uk/shop/products_new.php |

Do the original BMW Sun Screens also have such a large join in the centre of the rear window? Its clearly seen in the Van Style product, but BMW hide this on their product photo. Has anyone seen the original product? Same?

You can also find a good alternative at www.solarplexius.com
I've used their products for my two Audis and now for our Xc90. |

Hi Lost in France, unrelated to sunscreens, but I'm in France (Nimes), looking at buying an X1. I'm expat Brit, first time I've bought a car in france (still driving my old rhd Vauxhall). Just wondered about your experience with buying a beemer in France (if that's what you did), eg. any discounting of prices? quality of service network? cheers for any local advice you can give!

I did buy my X1 in France at the local dealer, best advice I can give is haggle! We went back over a few days with quotes from the web and even from another dealer in the same city. We also got some extras thrown in, I think the poor girl was fed up by the time we had finished but it was haggling.
If you've been in France for a few years then you'll know you need to drive the deal, and don't take no for an answer. You can sometimes get a better deal in the smaller dealers a little way out of the cities. I'm also told by my French work colleagues that (supposedly) there are better deals in Paris (but I can't vouch for that one). In all we got something like a 17% discount on the price (if you include the extras thrown in). Bon chance! |
