Think of it as a 3-series crossover and you get the picture. The X3 for example is a lot bigger (especially the new one).
And as for our American friends, this car is tiny compared to the behemoths you drive.

It's NOT an SUV, but a crossover wagon. More or less a 3 Series higher on the ground... That's why it looks like a 3 Series higher on the ground.
