Just to knit pick, springs don't go "on" the shocks(rear dampeners). They do sit over/go on the front struts (front dampeners) though.

But anyway, unless you have a pair of E90 sedan springs handy and like to experiment with fitment/ride height/etc. I'd stick with either a known quantity X1 specific aftermarket spring, or a height-adjustable coil over.

Problem with the coilovers is that they seem to just use an E90 coilover with a sleeve over the front strut for the larger knuckle opening. This generally means the you're limited how high you can make the rear (like it potentially sits too low for some people's tastes even on its highest setting).
So E90 Coilovers with a sleeve over the front struts would fit, the only issue is the rear dampeners?

I'm getting my H&R springs / B6 shocks as everyone else seems to have also, but just considering other options for a similar price range.
