Your cars won't run over here, due to the crap quality high sulphur diesel we have.
And getting the contiguous 48 states to agree to impose quality restrictions on diesel so it doesn't ruin the engine of imported cars would be a neat trick. Especially given the powerful farming lobby.
So what we get are special US models, which don't sell well because in the mind of the average American, a diesel is still a slow, stinky and soot-spewing contraption. Never mind the evidence to the contrary.
