I don't think BMWs in particularly are that highly specced in Australia. All that was said was just corporate bs to cover the fact that in Australia here we get ripped off on new BMW's. But then again the resale value hold up pretty well as well.... so *shrug* From my own experience there is a certain snobbishness that oozes from dealerships when I walked in, whether it was to have a look-around, to seriously inquire about a new car, or to pick one up and I have been to three of them in Melbourne numerous times.
Anyway I would say Hong Kong may or may not be a good representative benchmark. It is a market where, for a myriad of reasons, typically the cars are extremely highly specced.
