NO...you likely would have failed despite his recommendations...unless the sand was packed really hard. As another reply stated, sand can be tricky. I live near the Outer Banks of NC and have spent a lot of time driving on the beach. The sand there is relatively soft and it always requires 4 wheel or all wheel drive. If you have 2 wheel drive you won't go far. It also helps to let the air in the tires down to about 15-20 psi. Making sure to pump back up once you get off the sand. Have fun in your X1 but stay off the beach.
