Chinese X1 copy !
Hum... that gives me sort of a sour taste. On one hand I am glad that China could benefit from such a good (X1) car lines, architecture and components.
However on the other hand, having changed that much the exterior (eg rounded and softened the lines), I kind of feel there are now two distinct lines of X1. They should have maintained for China the X1 as it is built for the Americas and Europe, or create a new specific X's line for the Chinese model with it's own exterior & interior. (...)
This make me feel the X1's branding is now kind of diluted. Moreover, the absence of the BMW's badge may imply this new model may not be up to BMW's standard, consequently implies that BMW have now two set of grades. I really wonder to what extend the Chinese will bite on this BMW JV's model. BMW should have instead pushed the new F48 for the Chinese market (eg an economical front wheel X1 but still a X1).
Cheers! (or not!)
