I'm not sure that it competes with anything in the $25-35k range and that certainly wouldn't be BMW's goal. It competes with Audi, Mercedes, Volvo, Acura, Range Rover. It does not compete with Toyota, Honda, Mazda or anything like a Ford Escape. People may compare it to those but that's not what BMW competes with. The new X1 will smoke the CRZ, I think it's 0-60 in 8.5 seconds and the Escape is well north of 7 seconds even with the new turbo 2.0. If someone expects to get into a new BWM at those prices they need to buy used. The day BMW gets into those price points is the day I'll move into another premium brand.
