OP, The E84 generation X1 for me is potentially polarizing because it is "old school". I love it because it has hydraulic steering, N55 and "old school" BMW suspension tuning. It is sort of like a budget Macan S in my eyes.

On the other hand, if you want all of the driver assist tech, I think this is the wrong car for you, and the F48 X1 generation would be better for you. (personally, I don't like it. The base seats were very uncomfortable. I am reserving final judgement until I try the sports seat version)

I recently had an LCI F25 X3 loaner and it was a GREAT cruiser. I would get this instead of the F48 X1 for sure, if I wanted a car with the modern "infotainment" technology.

Lastly, are you able to do a dual motor Tesla? I think that's pretty much the answer for a commuter with driver assist tech
