Having just bought my X1 last Friday and spent some time with the manual, one line quoted above really caught my eye:

"Certain vehicle components may experience additional wear as a result of this system."

I wonder what BMWs have had the ASS system the longest, and if there is any evidence as yet which parts my wear out sooner than expected? It almost makes me wonder if there's a scenario under which whatever long-term gas savings would be negated by more maintenance costs.

I have to say, that with my "anticipatory" right foot, I tend to be able to get the engine on again just as a light changes. So I haven't found the ASS obtrusive. On the other hand, when I am a good boy and use "Eco Pro," I really feel as if the car has suddenly gained 500 pounds or so...so I only click that on when traffic is a bear anyway...

I only have about 50 miles on the X1 at this point and MPG so far is in low 20s....a lot of city driving in there.
