Just got the official word from Bmw Engineering, the oil life indicator can only be set one way, the car will then count down accordingly to driving habits. He also stated that the dealers should not try to tamper with the service settings. You are definitely entitled to an oil service every year and of course when the service reminder is on. That is totally BS. I am taking my car in on Nov 1st for the 1st oil change (7,900miles on the clock) and my SA confirmed that the new code for all turbo cars resets the cars to 12k mile oil service. I have a '13 X135. My Sa ran the last 7 numbers of my vin and said the computer showed that the interval change will affect my car.
