In addition to the X1, we have an E46 M3 (about 340bhp) and a tuned N54 135 (about 400bhp on 93, closer to 425 or so on E85). The N55 maxes out the turbo pretty quickly, hence the N54 making more power with the twins.

Here's an N54, tune only, running only 91 octane...(note the increase about 80 whp over the stock map pull)

Both the X1 and 135 walk the M3 in a straight line, although the M3 and X1 start to get pretty close as speeds get over 100.

My wife enjoys having a quick car, hence the tune on the X1. The 135 was her daily driver prior to getting the X1.

You want to refute what kind of power a JB4 makes on an N54 or N55? OK...

You're only embarrassing yourself, as there are only thousands of dyno pulls, 1/4 mile slips, etc. out there letting you know you don't know what you're talking about.

Better yet, get a ride in one. You can change maps on the fly, so someone can literally incrementally add power from 300 up to 360-400 bhp or so, depending on the gas being used. On the X1, it's about a 7-8 MPH gain in 1/4 mile trap speed stock vs. a 370 bhp map. That is a HUGE gain. Night and day difference.

Your engine, for example, even on 91 makes up to about 35 whp over stock (like a 50bhp gain) on a JB4 alone...

Anyway, way to not address the point about cherry picking dyno numbers to claim your car is underrated, and then ignoring those same dyno numbers which show what tunes add to what engines.

These engines are world-renown for making power easily.
