The mini spare and run flat have similar speed restriction. However, once you drive any significant distance on the run flat the tire is toast and should be replaced. If one swaps to a mini spare the RFT might be salvageable.

Further, most run flats are good for 25 to 200 miles whereas a mini spare is good for thousands of miles. Getting stuck with a flat in the middle of a western or mid west state (USA or Canada providence) on a Sunday evening with just a run flat means a tow job, a motel, etc. Been there done that with a regular tire as getting a replacement was problematic. On the east coast I might think differently.
