The 911 is clearly a superior car to the X1 on the track, you'd have to be nuts to argue otherwise. But it's not such a huge difference that amateur drivers in an X1 can't be competitive around a circuit in HPDE's. I have tons of video proving just that. Pick a Porsche you want to see give me a point by - 991, Cayman S, 911 RS, 997 GT3 - I'll post it up. Put two pro drivers of equal skill in the two cars and the Porsche will obviously pull away - but the difference will not be as large as you suspect it to be. The X1 is a lifted 335xi with a BETTER suspension than the 335xi has. Slightly modified 335xi's are track monsters.
911's haven't been purpose built sports cars in a decade. They are GT's with the sole exception of the GT3 and GT2.
FWIW, if I could have any car on earth it would be the GT3 right now.
