Years ago car and driver did a test in a rwd and fwd car with mini spare. I recall the rwd car was a vette. They did all the instrumented testing including high speeds braking etc. there was surprisingly very little distance and the donuts held up well. I recall the worst issue was like ccw skid pad with the donut on the outside front.
I think the 50 mph is there due to the attornies
Anyways I ended up with the alloy wheel donut from bav auto.
