What can save you fuel is braking earlier but lighter, so you roll towards a light and are still rolling while it turns green.
Another saver is to let the car slow down while you roll up a hill, and let it speed up when you roll down it. Trying to maintain an exact speed hurts in hilly terrain.

Thanks Grovsnus. I totally. I used to drive a lighter car for 14 years and learning how to drive a heavy car "properly". I found myself braking a lot more often and later than optimum.
