Actually I think it could be the roof rails, but better insulation always helps.
Eitherway there is more wind noise than a typical luxury SUV. I don't mind because no typical SUV drives like X1. It is clear the money you paying is going toward chassis and drivetrain, rather than soft plastics and insulation which is dead weight in terms of performance.
