I was offered that maintenance warranty extension as well and I passed.
It did seem to cover a lot of stuff, but in the end the 2k+ can go a long way especially if you do some of the work yourself.
For example, brake pads are covered, but that is a fairly easy DIY home job for much less than the dealer charges.
Now, if you are not a DIY guy, there are a good number of independent shops that charge much less than the dealer for service.
