This is a strategic, marketing move. The X1 is not here in the US for one reason: the return on investment will not make up for lost X3 sales. Bet on it. Sad but true. If you want a small SUV with BMW ethos, try a mini Countryman. It is a great little "truck". I know an X1 28i will be that much better, but in the US the Countryman is your only choice for now.
I agree. I called my dealer. My SA says he spoke to BMW today and was told that there are currently no plans to ever bring the X1 to the US since they do not perceive there to be a market for it here.
