greenfunk, I have the s18i too for nearly 5 months now and 7000kms and I've got some bad news for you - it doesn't really improve.
But what helps, I repeat, is using the manual mode. Defeats the purpose of an auto admit but it will definitely bring the consumption down as you can change up quicker - auto mode tends to hang on to lower gears too long, or is too eager to change down.
