Yes, and this is due to a lack of regulation in almost all states. Because driving with rear fog lights on when not needed is not a driving offence here, idiots will do it, without even getting fined. Which causes more safety risks than having rear fog lights would solve.
I'm with BMW on this one - even though
I know that fog lights are not to be used except in pea soup conditions, I realize that the average American driver neither knows nor cares, and that cops can't do anything about wrong use. So it's probably better that we don't get them.
Lobby your local politicos to get stricter traffic laws like in Europe, and we may get more safety features too. But without a law, I'd rather not be blinded by rear fog lights in clear conditions or in the city.
