The SDrive 1.8d was the first X1 I test drove. Did a few hundred miles in it (had it for the weekend) and in my opinion the performance is sufficient for most circumstances. I was really (and I mean really
) impressed with the power from the 2.0 litre engine. It has plenty of low down grunt and the torque is really good. Its only at the top end thats it start wheezing a bit but by that time you are over the speed limit anyway. Keep it in the right gear and you will have no problems.
I have gone for a 2.0d but only because I need the 4x4 bit as well.
