Wow what vitriolic responses. Are Special Editions so unusual for BMW? They are just advertising gimmicks, and I assume they have been proven to serve the purpose of getting a particular model more attention and thus greater sales overall, regardless of how many of the Special Edition are actually produced and sold.

That being said, they do look goofy in the pics. But they will stand out in a crowded "Auto Show" floor, I bet.

Bear in mind that the one and only time in my life I wore skis, I came off the lift (after about a 15 minute training session by a good buddy who just wanted to get started with his own skiing), hit a decline, couldn't stop, swerved to avoid a kid and twisted my knee so bad I screamed out "I broke my leg." Spent the rest of the afternoon in the cafeteria, in moderate discomfort, until everyone had had their fun. Did have to hobble on a single crutch for a week or so to repair the knee, however...

Never again. And certainly not in the Powder Ride X1...
