I agree, our X1 will get a 4 cyl diesel for sure (as it should). In my post above, I was only talking about the X3 diesel with respect to the six cylinder being a better fit.
I also agree about the engine - either the existing 23d with ~204hp, or a brand new 25d model with ~215hp. As far as I know the new engine is still 2L but I could be wrong. BMW hasn't officially annouced it yet, but its coming to Geneva in the 125d so we should know more sometime prior to then. Of course we still won't know whether it will head to the X1 right away as well, and if it does, whether we'll get stateside or not.

The current 2.3 I think is a 2 litre and the new one is supposed to be the 2.5 but still a 2.0 liter just upgraded.
