I'm 6'2" and when I test drove the X1 I adjusted the front seats so that I could drive the car and sit comfortably in the passenger seat. Then I moved to the back to check legroom. I would agree with the earlier comment that you can sit in the car but I wouldn't want to be 6'2" in the back seat behind a tall driver for 6-8 hours.

I should note that while I'm tall I prefer to sit fairly upright in the driver's seat compared to most people. The back of the seats have cutout for the back passenger knees and if you like a lot of recline in your front seats that makes using that cutout space really hard for tall back seat passengers. I compared the car to a 2009 3 series wagon and thought the rear room was fairly similar, close enough that it had no impact on my buying decision, but if that is a big criteria I'd give the edge to the 3 series. I have not compared it to the current 3 series sedan mainly because of the cost difference and my need for more cargo capacity than the sedan offers.
