Makes no sense otherwise unless the packaging change for the LCI (changed the angle of the right leg) impacted the space needed for the 8HP.
The 8HP is not that much more per unit at this time than the 6HPTu.

They probably did it to keep costs down.
Is the 8HP in the F30 328i and 335i the exact same? Or is there a slight difference due to more torque handling?
