Recall affects aftermarket devices
I had the recall done today by my BMW dealer. Unfortunately, doing the flash for the recall eliminated the coding for my back-up camera. The camera was an aftermarket one made to fit BMWs that a technician and my son had installed 5 years ago and had worked fine since installation. However, since it was not part of the original build for the car, the recall flash wiped out the camera coding.
The dealer tried to fix it but we did not have any info to reload the aftermarket camera coding. It was not the dealer's fault. I just wanted to provide an alert to anyone that has similar aftermarket devices. Otherwise, I did not see any changes in performance, etc., from the recall.
