Do you have any evidence? Most mass producing car manufacturers don't stock supply of parts (Just in time manufacturing) and BMW is certainly not an exception.
With a previous job, BMW IT told me that when the manufacturing process control application goes down, the part delivery trucks backup on the highway within hours...
