That's what you get for getting the girl edition.

There were no German made Z3's. The M's got a German VIN because of the German sourced part content, but they were still made by the halfwits you're so scared of.

There were 6,200 total Z3 M Coupes for the world and I think 2.600 for the US. Only about 630 of those were US S54 cars though, but I think all three of us had S52 cars. I sold mine after 143k miles, many track sessions and zero mechanical issues. The new owner threw a turbo on it, finally did the rear subframe modifications and it's still going strong.

Interesting sidebar, when I worked in Germany, my colleagues hated the Z3 M's because they were geared primarily for the US, near redline at 155 mph and had a tiny gas tank, 14 gallons or so. They were only good for about 150 miles on the autobahn because of that, sort of limiting their functionality. I still got to drive a Euro motor S52 over there, that motor always seemed more raw than the later S54 and I would have loved to have had one over there and mine at home.
